Cartoon and carnival

Each week of the February vacation has its own theme. From March 01 to 08, 2025, Vars will be immersed in a cartoon and carnival atmosphere, with a wide range of activities including creative workshops, sports activities and a chamallow party. On Thursday, March 06, Vars will take you on a journey from the 50s to the present day.

Welcome drink

8:45 am – Vars les Claux snow front

To kick off this week’s Cartoon and Carnival-themed festivities, we invite you to our welcome drink. It’s also an opportunity to introduce you to the resort’s activities and events, share a moment of tenderness with Dorlotte the groundhog and try your luck at winning a surprise in our prize draw!

Rando ski experience with K2 and BCA: free introduction to ski touring with Happy Mountains

9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Meet at the DVA park at the bottom of the Happy Mountains piste, next to the Chal’heureux high-altitude restaurant.

Set off on the permanent ski touring itinerary “Le Col des Saluces”, with a mountain professional. On the program: equipment loan, DVA initiation, discovery of the discipline over 1.8km for 310m of vertical drop. Conditions: groups of 6 people maximum, minimum ski level Class 3 (parallel skiing and speed control on red runs). Valid ski pass required to reach the meeting point. Reservations must be made with Happy Mountains on 06 65 70 02 66 before Saturday, March 1. Once you’ve booked your outing, call La Charpenterie Sport 2000 on 04 92 46 52 10 to reserve your equipment.

Wooden games

10am – Vars les Claux, snow front

Come and share a convivial moment of fun around a variety of wooden games.

Arcade terminals

1pm to 8pm – Entertainment area, Vars les Claux snow front

For this cartoon week, numerous arcade terminals will be available for a 100% guaranteed return to childhood.

Human curling

5pm – Vars les Claux, snow front, at the bottom of the l’adroit slope

Come and have fun with family and friends at this human curling event. The principle is simple: in teams of 2 (one in the buoy and the other pushing) you must stop on the target. Open to everyone aged 6 and over, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Mardi Gras Créa’telier

10am – Espace animations, Vars les Claux snow front

Come and create your own Mardi Gras mask. Registration required at the Tourist Office.

Mardi Gras refreshment bar

4pm – Point Show, next to the Sibières chairlift

Before the Tuesday festivities, come and taste and drink goodies with the Club Omnisport de Vars.

Carnival Dorlotte time

4.30pm – Point Show next to the Sibières chairlift

Come and share a moment of surprise with Dorlotte the mascot on this carnival day: balloon sculpting, dancing, masquerade costume competition and a make-up stand to get you in the mood.

Nocturne at the Ecrins ski lift

5pm – 7pm – Point show

Fancy some night skiing? The Ecrins ski lift goes into overtime every Tuesday during the school vacations. The International Ski School will also be on hand with its torchlit descent.

Tuesday show: Ça cartoon by La petite histoire company

6pm – Espace animations, Vars les Claux snow front

A colorful, cartoonish and humorous show by our local storyteller Nicolas Bonato. Limited seating, recommended for children aged 5 and over. Priority to children over 5 accompanied by an adult.

First track

8:40 am – Meet at Central Secours

Our passionate ski patrollers invite you to share in the opening of the pistes with them: first tracks, safety, prevention… Places are limited, so bookings must be made at the Tourist Office from Monday 03 March. Level required: 3rd star.

Visit to the snow factory

Free admission from 10am to 12pm – Snow factory, Clapier piste

Discovery and explanation of the snow-making profession and artificial snow. Access via the Chabrières telemix, valid ski pass required.

Board games

10am – entertainment area, Vars les Claux snow front

Come and enjoy a variety of board games to get the day off to a great start!

Before luge

4pm – Vars les Claux, snow front

To tide you over until the giant luge descent, come and join in the fun with us as we dance to a giant blind test. Wooden games will also be available.

Mario Kart toboggan ride

4.40pm – Meet at the bottom of Télémix de Chabrières

Everyone toboggan in hand for a giant descent! Helmets and sleds with metal brakes compulsory, purchase of a sledding ACCES compulsory, ski and snow shoes forbidden. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. This activity is not recommended for children under 5. Maximum two people per sled.

Chamallow party!

6pm – Front de neige Télémix de Vars les Claux

Share a tender, gourmet moment around a fire, toasting marshmallows.

Sports initiation: muscle strengthening

Before starting your day’s skiing, come and warm up with an introduction to muscle strengthening. Ages 14 and over, registration required at the Tourist Office.

Draisienne race and human table soccer

2pm – Vars les Claux, snow front

The Vars les Claux snow front comes alive before the February evening show! Calling all young and old who love a challenge: come and compete in a draisienne race on skates and snow, or try your hand at giant table soccer. The draisienne race is reserved for children under 8.

February puts on a show

6:30pm – Vars les Claux snow front

The three artists of the Mr Orange group will be delighted to welcome you and take you on a journey through time with their covers of songs from the 50s to the present day. An ESF torchlight descent followed by a light show will round off this final evening.
