Under the sign of the show

The festival kicked off with a first day entirely devoted to demonstrations by the best riders in an exceptional setting.

MTB Slopestyle: high-flying acrobatics

Right from the start, the Vars snowpark, specially designed for the occasion, was the scene of atypical performances. The crème de la crème of mountain bikers performed impressive tricks: backflip, 360°, superman, condor and many more. Nicolas Terrier, ranked in the world’s top 30 in his discipline, and Timothé Bringer, runner-up in the mountain bike slopestyle world championship, showcased their mastery and creativity.

Cross-country skiing: a new format for the first time at the Outdoormix Winter Festival.

Five men and five women took to the slopes from the boardercross for a one-of-a-kind demonstration of the ascent-descent format. Combining endurance and technical skills, the very physical course was surprisingly dynamic. Some participants added a touch of freestyle with small jumps at the start and finish. This event, combining intense effort and innovative spirit, brilliantly met the challenge of modernizing this classic discipline.

The festival vibrated to the rhythm of Oai Reggae Party and Pochatt’ Crew

After an adrenalin-filled day, the party continued in a festive atmosphere. Kris 10 opened the evening with a before-concert, setting the scene for the fiery performance of Oai Reggae Party. Finally, Pochatt’ Crew took over with an electro set, bringing the first day to a close.

Highlights

Snowkayak in the spotlight

Saturday was marked by a series of spectacular competitions, with snowkayaking the star event. In the morning, some thirty kayakers set off at full speed on a bordercross course specially prepared by the resort’s teams.

The twists and turns added a dose of adrenalin to this competition, the only one of its kind in France. Balance was the key, as participants had to constantly adapt to a terrain that was out of the ordinary for this discipline.

Tom Dollé, world kayak champion, brilliantly won the competition for the third time in succession, demonstrating absolute mastery of his kayak, both on water and on snow. He was followed on the podium by Nils Biermans and Nicolas Chassing.

Combined: bordercross and Mass Start downhill

Boardercross event

Around forty mountain bikers took part in a combined mountain bike race, combining a boardercross event on the snow front and a downhill event on the piste, starting from the Chabrières telemix in mass start format. The objective was simple: first to the bottom wins the race. These results then defined the starting order for the downhill race.

Mass Start Downhill

From the summit of the Télémix de Chabrières, participants raced to their mountain bikes, positioned just a few metres away, to face the technical challenges and slopes that awaited them. A crucial start for taking the lead and tackling the descent in the best possible conditions.

Derby de l’Outdoormix Winter Festival

The derby, the Outdoormix Winter Festival’s flagship event, attracted over 60 ski and snowboard enthusiasts. From the top of the Vars Speed Master, competitors set off on a 6 km run with an 800 m vertical drop. In less than five minutes, the fastest skiers crossed the finish line to a standing ovation from the public.
